This new year 2025 is a Holy Year, and Pope Francis wrote the bull of convocation to prepare us for its opening: “Spes non confundit” “Hope does not disappoint”.
For us, Discalced Carmelites of the Federation of the Middle East and North Africa, in the difficult current context of wars, it is good to reread this text.
“Hope does not disappoint”… Hope is born of love and based on the love springing from the pierced heart of Jesus upon the cross… is sustained by the power flowing from Christ’s cross and resurrection… We need to recognize the immense goodness present in our world, lest we be tempted to think ourselves overwhelmed by evil and violence. The signs of the times, which include the yearning of human hearts in need of God’s saving presence, ought to become signs of hope.

To be transformed into a sign of hope! May this be our mission throughout all the new year!
This site is here to help us to experience together, this transformation, marveling in awe and filled with gratitude towards the Infinite Love of our God!
“Hope finds its supreme witness in the Mother of God. In the Blessed Virgin, we see that hope is not naive optimism but a gift of grace amid the realities of life.

Since Carmel is entirely Marian, we are united to Her
for wishing you that this Christmas and this year 2025
may be entirely immersed in the sweet Light of the
Virgin Mary, of her faith, of her hope, of her love.
On Christmas night, from the manger of Bethlehem,
may the birth of the Child Jesus,
Son of God and Son of Mary,
shine as a Source of Joy for the entire universe…
Merry Christmas!
Your Carmelite sisters of the Middle East and North Africa.
