Pilgrims of hope Jubilee 2025

The Holy Father has announced that 2025 will be a Jubilee Year, which occurs every 25 years. Hope is the focus of the Jubilee called by the Pope, which will begin on December 24, 2024, and end in January 2026.

The Pope also urges that on Sunday, December 29, 2024, in all cathedrals and co-cathedrals, the diocesan bishops celebrate the Eucharist as the solemn opening of the Jubilee Year.

He also indicates that the Holy Year will end in the particular churches on Sunday, December 28, 2025, and will close in Rome with the closing of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica on January 6, 2026, Epiphany of the Lord.

Pope Francis has confirmed that the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican will open on December 24 of this year 2024, thus beginning the Ordinary Jubilee of Hope.

What is the fruit that the Holy Father expects from this Jubilee?

“May it be an opportunity to be renewed in hope.” and he reminds us that this virtue “Hope is born of love and based on the love springing from the pierced heart of Jesus upon the cross”… Hope “is constantly renewed and confirmed by the working of the Holy Spirit”.

The Holy Father reminds us that patience, the fruit of the Holy Spirit, ” sustains our hope and strengthens it as a virtue and a way of life”.
